Martin Anaya

Martin Anaya is a professor of Computer Information Systems at El Camino College. Earning his BS at CSU Long Beach and his MS at CSU Dominguez Hills, Martin brings over 10 years of experience and focuses his classes on IT systems, including introductions to computer concepts, cloud computing, web design with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, cybersecurity, and systems analysis. His passion for teaching has led him all over LAUSD, with experience at both East and West Los Angeles College where he was a senior computer and network support specialist. While Martin specializes in data center technology, he has experience with virtually all fields related to IT including Cybersecurity, Cloud, Databases, AI/ML, and the Development pipeline.

A self-starter, Martin has had a passion for IT since he was a child, building his first computer at age 8. Martin enjoys working with cloud architectures to build customized servers. He continues to find and learn new technologies on a regular basis, which he eagerly passes along to his students and colleagues. When Martin isn't educating he can be found gaming and spending time with his family.

Charlotte Augenstein

Charlotte Augenstein is the President of C Augenstein Corporation, where she consults for higher education institutions in Information and Communication Technologies. With a half decade of experience, she works collaboratively with workforce development, industry partners, and community colleges across multiple states. She has also worked with Microsoft in Education and Community Development. Charlotte has vast experience and knowledge in enterprise software, technical training, public speaking, technology, marketing, customer success, and project management.

A speaker at SCALE UP’s first ever event, she is also passionate about community and social services and has served as the President of Huntington Beach Education Foundation for over 11 years, providing leadership and guidance in fundraising, grant writing, and partnership development. She has partnered with K-12 and higher education institutions across California to enable students to update their skills in IT and educate them on industry-recognized certifications. Her hard work has empowered institutions with curriculum and materials to teach new technologies both in and out of the classroom.

Mario Bajenting

Mario Reynaldo Bajenting is a Cybersecurity Analyst for the Northrop Grumman Corporation and a Signal Officer for the United States Army Reserve. As a Cybersecurity Analyst, he is responsible for implementing and managing Governance, Risk and Compliance for a Classified Enterprise Wide Area Network. As a Signal Officer, he is responsible planning and executing all aspects of communication for the Army’s voice, data, and information systems.

Mario earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science with a minor in Cybersecurity Applications from California State University, Long Beach in 2021 and an associate degree in arts and humanities from Los Angeles Harbor College in 2017. Mario also holds certifications for ISACA’s CISM (Certified Information Security Manager) and CompTIA’s Security+ and CySA+ (Cybersecurity Analyst). In his free time, he enjoys running and playing basketball.

Dr. Monica Beane

Dr. Monica Beane is a Sr. Program Manager for Amazon Web Services (AWS). She holds a Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership: Higher Education Administration and has over 20 years of experience in developing and implementing innovative educational programs and policies.

Working backward from industry demand, she engages with higher education systems to navigate the implementation of AI content in workforce and for credit programs. Prior to joining AWS, Beane held state educational leadership roles in West Virginia and Oregon; she is a respected partner focused on establishing equitable access to high quality, world-class education opportunities for learners regardless of one’s zip code.

Adrian Delgado

Adrian Delgado is a Job Developer here at El Camino College. Receiving his BA from CSU Northridge and his MA from Antioch University, Adrian has a passion for helping students find their careers. Adrian has dedicated his efforts into reviewing student resumes, discovering career options, finding employment, and developing students to be ready for the workplace.

Robin Driezler

Mr. Robin Dreizler is currently the Dean of Enrollment Services at El Camino College overseeing Admissions & Records, Financial Aid, International Students, Outreach and School Relations, and the college’s Warrior Welcome Center. He holds a Master’s in Humanities from California State University Dominguez Hills. In all, Mr. Dreizler has nearly 40 years of service in education dedicated to assisting students, the last 27 years of which have been at El Camino College.

Col. Michelle K. Idle

Col. Michelle K. Idle is the Mobilization Assistant to the Commander, Space Systems Command, Los Angeles Air Force Base, California. She is responsible for budget management covering space systems research, development, acquisition, sustainment and the associated launch, command and control infrastructure. Col. Idle was commissioned in 1993 from the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She served eight years on active duty prior to transferring to the Air Force Reserves.

Prior to her current position, Colonel Idle served as the Individual Mobilization Augmentee (IMA) to the Deputy Director, National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), Chantilly, Virginia. As the senior Air Force Reserve Officer, she provided direction for the organizational policy, strategy and governance matters related to Reserve Component support to space surveillance systems.

Koda Kol

Koda Kol is an accomplished IT professional and professor with over 20 years of experience in the industry and in the field of education. He has taught and developed courses for Los Angeles Unified School District, as well as a multitude of community colleges. He has worked in various roles from volunteering to management. His most recent contributions in bridging the gap between education and employment include his work with the CA Cloud Workforce leadership team. He has a proven track record of delivering high-quality solutions that meet business needs and exceeds customer expectations. He is a technologist who remains relevant with the latest trends and developments. In his free time, he enjoys biking and playing racquetball.

Olivia Morales Leslie

Olivia Morales Leslie is a Solutions Architect at CESMII focused on defining and driving Smart Manufacturing adoption. She enables manufacturers to use Smart Manufacturing technology and concepts including advising on architecture, implementation, and expanding developer resources. She also oversees projects aimed at defining and developing that technology.

Olivia has a background in Industrial Automation technology and software development. She joins CESMII from Rockwell Automation, where she most recently worked as a Senior Software Engineer and Scrum Master to develop a new product offering that delivered an industrial hardened AI directly to the automation control platform.

Khai Lu

Khai Lu is a professor at El Camino College and teaches courses in Computer Information Systems and Computer Science. He brings 25 years of Information Technology experience into the classroom to share with his students. Khai graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science & Engineering and has a Master’s Degree from Cal State Fullerton in Information Technology. His expertise is in developing data-proven technical solutions from inception to implementation with a background in systems analysis, application programming, and business data communications. Some of the courses that he teaches include cloud computing, cybersecurity, database and application programming, and information systems.

Jun Ma

Jun Ma is a Data Engineer for the popular streaming service Crunchyroll. Holding a background in data science, analytics, coding languages, and database management, Jun is well versed in everything IT and visualization. A graduate from University of California, Davis, he has a BS in Computational Statistics with a minor in Computer Science.

Attendees of his lecture can experience the magic of transforming text description into stunning images through the innovative world of stable diffusion. No matter the background of his audience, Jun offers a unique opportunity to explore the limitless creative possibilities of stable diffusion in the realm of text-to-image generation.

Mia Carina Mayer

Mia Carina Mayer is an applied scientist and is passionate about ethics, bias, and fairness, as well as democratizing Machine Learning. With a background in natural sciences, she first gained business experience working for a high paced startup and worked on various projects for a global IT consultancy before joining Amazon. Well versed in supervised and unsupervised ML methods using Python and R, she is also a frequent guest lecturer, ML advocate, and instructor.

Having attended Imperial College Business School for MSc Business Analytics, Mia was able to learn a number of technical skills ranging from data manipulation, machine learning model build, model evaluation and data visualization.

Feli Michaca

Feli Michaca is a Premier Field Engineer and Brand Ambassador at Managed Solution (based in San Diego) for VIP Customers in Orange, LA, and IE Counties.

Feli has a passion to empower the next generation interested in tech. He has been serving for the last 20 years with Focus in Outstanding Customer Experience, Innovation and strong emphasis in Cloud Services, specifically systems like Office 365, Azure, and other Cloud based Systems.

Mitch Middler

Professor Mitch Middler is a full-time El Camino College computer science professor and former high school teacher. Professor Middler has been designing and developing software for over 25 years. Specializing in applications for the digital film and video industries, he has contributed development and design efforts to popular Apple products such as Shake, Motion and Final Cut Pro X.

During his tenure at Apple he was awarded several patents in areas ranging from user interface design to image processing algorithms. Prior to joining Apple he co-founded the visual effects studio Station X Studios in Santa Monica, California, which was acquired in 2000.

Jennell Mott

Jennell Mott, COO of Managed Solution, has over 20 years’ experience in leadership, operations, leading technical teams and vendor management. Coming from an Environmental and Science background, Jennell has always enjoyed solving complex problems, and technology has allowed her to apply these skillsets and navigate this ever-changing field. Over the last 20 years she has been instrumental in growing the operations and culture of Managed Solution a growing tech company. She has a passion for educational programs that improve the employee experience while increasing productivity with efficiencies. From 2020 to 2021, she increased revenue by 99% in the Procurement Department by developing strategic partnerships and becoming an expert around Microsoft products. She has worked tirelessly to ensure the Managed Solution team felt heard, seen and included during a pandemic by creating a remote event schedule, increasing engagement and morale. She donates her time and technical skills to our nonprofit partners. Without her, Managed Solution would not be the leading IT consulting and national helpdesk provider it is today. Her influence can be felt throughout the organization. Jennell Mott’s dedication to both her colleagues and customers is unmatched and is a testament to Managed Solution’s success.

Richard Perkins

Richard Perkins is an experienced Computer Information Systems (CIS) instructor at El Camino College with a wealth of knowledge and a passion for teaching. He started as a student-athlete at El Camino College in 2004, playing football and competing in track and field. 9 years later, he started teaching at CIS at El Camino College in 2013.

As he marks his tenth year at the community college, Richard Perkins continues to inspire, educate, and nurture the next generation of tech-savvy individuals. His passion for teaching, expertise in Cybersecurity, and unwavering dedication to his students make him a valued asset to the institution and a role model for all.

Jesus Rubio

Jesus Rubio is a recognized professor of Computer Information Systems here at El Camino College. Earning a BS from Azusa Pacific University and MS from the University of San Diego, he is known for his engaging and inspiring instruction style. Professor Rubio has a deep passion for teaching and is highly knowledgeable in the world of IT, networking, Cisco Solutions, and cloud computing. When he isn’t instructing at El Camino College Jesus Rubio enjoys hiking and spending time with his daughter and fellow woman in tech.

Andy Shahbazian

Andy is a Senior Solutions Architect at Amazon web services. Currently focused on large-scale Automotive and ML projects with AWS partners globally, his works includes resilient large-scale systems for manufacturing, robotics, avionics, supply chains, media & entertainment, wireless sensor networks, and game tech. Earning his BS at UCLA and his Master's Degree from the College of Engineering at CSU Long Bach, Andy has also worked as a DevOps Manager & Solutions Architect at  Fox Corporation, and as a  Senior DevOps Solutions Architect of Machine Learning at Hallmark Labs.

Mary Wang 

Ms. Mary Wang is a software engineering manager at Northrop Grumman Space Systems. With over  25 years of software engineering and cybersecurity experience, she holds a BS in Computer Science and Master’s in Business Administration.

Her certifications include an ISC 2 Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), EC-Council Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), and CompTIA Security+. She is the winner of the 2019 Women’s Society of Cyberjutsu (WSC) President’s Award. She is also the co-founder of the WSC Southern California Chapter and currently she is the WSC SoCal Chapter Operations Lead.

Kerri Webb

Kerri Webb was born and raised in the City of Inglewood and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature and Mass Media from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1999, and later a Master’s Degree in Communication from the New York Institute of Technology in 2009. While attending UC Santa Barbara, Kerri wrote for the university’s award-winning newspaper, the Daily Nexus , working her way up to becoming its first Black Editor-in-Chief in 1998-1999. Her career veered into media relations when she was offered the opportunity to join UC Santa Barbara’s Public Affairs team as a press release writer in 2001..

In 2021, Kerri became the Director of Public Information and Government Relations for the El Camino Community College District in Torrance, CA, where she previously taught English and journalism courses as an adjunct professor since 2013. She is also a member of numerous associations, such as the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and the National Association for Black Journalists (NABJ).
